Sketchbook: Comic, Game and House Design by H.L. Goyer

-

A few recent pages from a sketchbook. I was thinking the other day how much I like seeing other peoples sketch books, so I figured I would just throw a few pages of my own up while I wait for some work to finish uploading.

Each of my sketchbooks are for a different purpose, and some will be more full than others. I tend to group things based on how I draw them rather than how frequently, so this book in particular will probably be full the fastest as these are my most addressed topics.

My digital art and painting books will fill the slowest, as I often just scrawl my notes for those projects on whatever scrap of paper is nearby.

Well, back to my day job.

People I’ve Met Preview by H.L. Goyer

In the past I may have mentioned a drawing project where I would draw everyone I know from memory (called ‘People I Know’). This is a prelude to said project that I am doing pretty much just to get practice capturing the likeness of a person.

I shall post 10 at a time every once in a while just for fun.

Ultros from Final Fantasy VI by H.L. Goyer

I have been playing FFVI lately, pretty much since I discovered it was available in the PSN Store (in the form of a port of the PS version of the game, so essentially a port of a port.) It has been at least two years since I last played it, and I can safely say it never gets old for me.

So thus is the reason for this fan-art, something you will rarely see from me.

Apology: I am not sure what happened, but if you were victim to the spammed 20 or so of this post I am sorry. I have deleted the original, and apparently it is now resolved. Hopefully this did not just break something else in tumblr and spam more people.

Three Free Illustrations

Because I am depressed about money (and because I am so pleased with all the new followers!), I have decided to give away three free drawings! Actually, let me be more specific…

You send me the TITLE of the illustration and I will pick my three favourite from all submitted and draw them in my gestural style.

Ideal titles are anything you can think of, simple or detailed. The only restriction is that the title be hate free as I only make art out of love… alright ocassionally out of hunger, but mostly out of love.

Those three illustrations will be posted here on my blog, and whichever one gets the most likes/reblogs/comments will be made into an edition of linocut prints. These prints will be sold/given away/destroyed in a bucket filled with my tears.

Okayyyyyy go!

If you remember my art giveaway, each person who is receiving a painting/digital prints is also going to get a drawing in this style.

And worth mentioning, coming soon are linocut prints in this same kind of style. Of course by soon you understand I mean eventually.

It is very challenging to draw a landscape from a childhood memory in a gestural style. Normally I have no trouble at all imagining movement in my head, but for some reason this scene is totally still.

Odd for me, I hate it.

I knew what it was even without the title. I love this!

Beautiful!!! Veneration at laaaastttttttttt!!!

A whole bunch more of in progress drawings. These (and all the others on business cards from before) are for an art show coming up in March (tentatively the 24th now).

I chip away at these while watching a movie or waiting for load times…

Anyhow, stay tuned for more!
