Preview of recent works part II by H.L. Goyer

Acrylic on 60” by 29 3/4” Ikea Table

This is another painting that will be in the March 16th art show being put on by LimeLighter here in Calgary. The show is called ‘Intrigue’ and will feature three other artists, Gillian Mitchell (ceramics), Blake Sherman (photography) and Andreas Tiedemann (painting).

I am lucky to be sharing a beautiful tall brick wall withMonsiour Sherman, a relief as my main works for the show are the same dimensions as above. My plan is to lean these table paintings against the wall, and stand up other paintings on the top edge, that way I avoid painstaking setup - booyeah.

If you are in Calgary that night, feel free to drop by and check it out. There shall be plenty of music and such so even if you somehow hate art, you can just enjoy the tunes.

Acrylic on an Ikea table

This is the largest thing I have painted thus far. Five to six feetish tall by three-ish wide. It is finished but is also only a third of the painting. I have another two tables to paint before the whole thing is done.

This is work being done for an art show coming up in March (date yet to be determined) being put on by LimeLighter, a local organization that puts on art/music shows focusing on local talents.

I will have old and new work in this show, all of my best old work, and all of my recent works which are being prepared specifically for this show.

It all ties in closely to my artist statement which I actually have never shared on here or with anyone who reads this aside from one or two. Now seems as good a time as any, and I will quote directly from my art cv….

“I seek to understand the viewer who sees abstract works of art unappealing and finding ways to connect with them; to create abstract works of art that are engaging to artists and outsiders alike.”

I do not usually post in-progress shots, but here you go. A painting in progress.

Cloudgazer Studios End of 2011 Free Art Extravaganza!!

You’ve seen which paintings the winners can choose from, now you get to see the digital prints that I will be randomly sending with their painting. There’s still time to enter, giveaway closes on January 31st! ^_^

I am giving away 7 paintings to that same number of individuals.

How do you win?! How many reblogs do I have to do? Can I have 30 entries?

I know you have questions but I’m going to make it a lot more simple than those other tumblr giveaways you see around… you do not have to be following me, you do not have to reblog this, you don’t even have to own a computer or your own e-mail address (though how you are aware of this would be very confusing indeed).

All you have to do is click here and tell me how I can get a hold of you if you should be randomly selected as a winner. Please include your name, and a e-mail address or telephone number. Please format e-mail address as such: username at something dot com. For example, my e-mail address would be hideo at cloudgazerstudios dot com.

That’s it! All you have to do.There is nothing you can do to increase your chances, you could reblog ten thousand times and I’d still only include you as a single entry. So don’t worry, relax

I will number each person, then input their numbers onto magical scraps of paper that will join all the others in a hat and fished out by greedy paws. The winners (again, of which there will be 7) will get to pick any single painting as pictured above.

Each winner will also get a random single digital print of my choosing measuring 8x10ish.

Please note: A few of these paintings are not especially space consuming, but the majority of them are 40 inches on the longest edge, to give you an idea.

I will be reblogging this every week, until January 31st when this giveaway will close and prizes shipped to their winners.

This is open to anyone, anywhere in the world. Young folk under 18, make sure your parents know a strange bearded man from Canada might be sending you strange giant art in the mail.

Oh and uhhh, “Happy 2012!” if it is already that time where you are from.

Corporate Greed and The Workers by H.L. Goyer

32” by 40” Acrylic on Canvas

This is my final painting of 2011, and in the end I am unsatisfied with it though it is entirely complete.

Brio Barcarolle by H.L. Goyer

40” x 32” Acrylic on Canvas

You may recall a painting that I abandoned not too long ago.

I flipped it upside down, and painted something with as many of the existing elements of the original as possible maintained or utilized somehow. And here you have the end result, my first ever highly literal portrait (as compared to my usual portraits).

Dia de los Muertos Group Show ›

More gallery presence spam approaching, down periscope, down periscope!!

There are some photos up of the group show I am part of at the gigantic gallery in Portland, Oregon.

If somehow you follow my blog and are not already familiar with the sort of thing I paint, you can easily locate my work as they are the only paintings that are not literally skeletons.

Here’s a close shot of one of them…

Six of my paintings will be in this group show in Portland, Oregon at the gigantic gallery. Go see that show, and buy my paintings.

Thanks to Shannon Larson for the opportunity to be in the show, truly her eye for good art must be top tier if she selected the likes of me! Right? Right!? Guys? Where… where did everybody go?

Anyhow, since no one pays attention unless there are lots of pretty things all over the place, here is one of those paintings again.
